Mission Shakti 5.0: The Yogi govt’s campaigns are amplifying women’s voices in every village

Lucknow: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state government’s Mission Shakti 5.0 is setting new benchmarks in women’s safety, dignity, and self-reliance. From October 17 to November 3, 2025, the Women and Child Development Department is organizing “Jagrukta Chaupals” in every Gram Panchayat across Uttar Pradesh. These Chaupals aim to raise awareness about social evils such as dowry and domestic violence, while educating women about their legal rights. Through this initiative, the Yogi government is not only promoting women’s empowerment but also fostering a culture of equality and sensitivity in rural communities.

The Chaupals under Mission Shakti 5.0 focus on dowry elimination and domestic violence prevention. Women, adolescent girls, men, and community members are informed about the harmful effects of these practices. Expert speakers and officials explain the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005, and the Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961, in simple, accessible language. Women are encouraged to refuse to tolerate violence and seek immediate assistance through the women’s helpline 181 and One Stop Centers.

Local police, ASHA, Anganwadi workers, village heads, and voluntary organisations are actively participating in these Chaupals. Women and girls share their experiences, creating an atmosphere of community empathy. Information on schemes like the Mukhyamantri Kanya Sumangala Yojana and other women’s safety programs is also disseminated, increasing access to government services and building trust in rural areas.

According to department records, 15.50 lakh people, including women, men, boys, and girls, have been sensitized under Mission Shakti 5.0 from September 22 to October 16, 2025.

This initiative is transforming women’s empowerment from policy into a social movement, with every Chaupal amplifying the voice of women’s dignity and promoting a culture of equality and respect. Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a national model for women’s safety and self-reliance through Mission Shakti 5.0.

Additional Chief Secretary Leena Johri of the Women and Child Development Department emphasized that ending dowry and domestic violence requires not just laws, but social awareness. She said, “Mission Shakti’s Chaupals are sparking dialogue in every village, assuring every woman that the state government stands with her.”
