Greater Noida: The hall was packed with audience eagerly awaiting the Khadi fashion show. As soon as the lights came on and music played, all eyes were fixed on the ramp. ‘Re-Spin: The Khadi Edit,’ held on the third day of the UP International Trade Show 2025, mesmerized everyone by presenting Uttar Pradesh’s textile heritage in a modern style. On this occasion, the state’s MSME, Khadi and Village Industries, Silk Production, Textiles, and Handloom Minister Rakesh Sachan was also present.
‘Re-Spin: The Khadi Edit’ took Khadi out of traditional attire and positioned it as the centerpiece of modern fashion. On the ramp, models showcased the diversity of Khadi in haute couture style. In some instances, chikankari and silk textures were crafted into Indo-Western looks, while in others, Khadi was presented in forms of office wear, casuals, and party wear.
The show’s purpose was not just to display fashion but also to serve as a medium to bring the skills of local weavers and artisans to the world. Foreign buyers, industry experts, and fashion designers showed deep interest in Khadi’s potential. The modern presentation of Khadi established it as an important step toward sustainable fashion.
The approximately two-hour-long ‘Re-Spin: The Khadi Edit’ concluded amidst thunderous applause. The stage, adorned with lights, music, and unique Khadi designs, proved to be a memorable experience for the audience. The show conveyed a clear message: Khadi is not just a heritage of the past, but also a strong foundation for the fashion of the future.
